In every community, non-profit organizations make a difference – and often, the difference – for individuals and families in need of help or a multitude of reasons. Community involvement and support is also a critical factor in progress for educational institutions. Joe’s contributions have helped restore much-needed financial health to non-profit organizations in danger of financial failure as well as financially strengthen other non-profits; raise money for youth athletic programs; bring a needed advanced educational program to our area university; and support building programs for a local public school system.
Joe has volunteered time and/or money to many organizations in our area, including Ed Endres Boys & Girls Club, Salvation Army Center of Hope, New Albany YMCA, Rauch, Inc., Metro United Way, Uspiritus, Goodwill of Southern Indiana, New Albany Little League, Indiana University Southeast MBA program and the New Albany-Floyd County (NAFC) Consolidated School Corporation.
His motivation? It’s because the needs are there and someone has to try to meet them. It seemed to him a choice between wondering why someone else wasn’t doing something, and doing something himself. He wanted to use what he knows in the best possible way. Money is the fuel on which these organizations provide help, care, hope, education, and more. His training and experience is in finance, and he made the greatest contribution he could by using what he knows to refine the fuel and put it in the engines of organizations that are doing good things in our community.
At the end of the day, though, Joe says that seeing the children’s smiles at events like the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program might be all the motivation anyone would need.
Rodefer Moss is very proud of Joe and his efforts for our community, and for the honor of being a finalist for One Southern Indiana’s Kevin Hammersmith Community Leader Ace Award. To view all of the finalists, click here.
Congratulations, Joe!
