Amid continued backlog, the IRS will temporarily reassign some staff members, implement “surge teams,” open some Taxpayer Assistance Centers on select Saturdays, and provide other measures to assist taxpayers.
The measures include relief proposed previously by the AICPA and the Tax Professionals United for Taxpayer Relief Coalition, of which AICPA is a member. The Coalition continues to urge the IRS to take action to provide immediate relief to taxpayers as the busy tax season is already underway.
